The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has ordered an extension of work from home for civil servants from grade level 14 and below till February 1 so as to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, Head of Service, (HoS) made the announcement on Saturday.

Muri-Okunola emphasised that the directive does not include staff on essential duty.

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved a further extension of the work-from-home order to all State Public Servants on Grade Levels 14 and below from Monday, 18th January 2021, to Monday, 1st February 2021, to curtail the spread of the Covid 19 second wave,” he said

Furthermore, “he urged all public servants to stay safe and ensure continued observance of all COVID-19 protocols for physical distancing, use of face masks, regular washing of hands with soap and running water as well as the use of hand sanitisers.”

The New Diplomat had earlier reported that Lagos State led with 713 cases of the 1867 new infections announced by as the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday.

Lagos State has so far recorded a total number of 22,562 cases since the outbreak of the pandemic with 21,119 discharged and 220 deaths.

Notably, Muri-Okunola stated that the weekly duty rosters should be maintained for effective service delivery by Ministries, Departments and agencies of the state government.
