In a bid to prove its seriousness and commitment to combating the raging covid-19 pandemic, the Federal government  has imposed travel restrictions on 100 passengers for non-compliance with the compulsory Day 7 post-arrival COVID-19 test protocol.

According to the federal government, this first set of  100 determined Nigerians  would face six months restriction as they would not be allowed to travel for the next six months.

A statement signed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19 Chairman and Secretary to the federal government, Boss Mustapha, “the defaulters have been banned for six months and would not be able to travel between now and June, 2021.”

The seized passports of the 100 Nigerians were accordingly displayed on the twitter handle of the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force on Sunday.

The statement  by Boss Mustapha added: “The PTF has placed travel restrictions on the first 100 passengers for non-compliance to the mandatory Day 7 post-arrival COVID-19 test.

“Based on presidential authority, travel restrictions are being placed on the following passport due to non-compliance to the mandatory Day 7 post-arrival PCR test.”

According to the federal government,  the designated  defaulting passengers have already been officially communicated of their offence, and would be  made to face the penalty of violating a critical protocol of the covid-19 regulations in Nigeria.
