  • Lagos Missing On Tally

From Segun Amure, (The New Diplomat’s Abuja Bureau)

Ondo, Ebonyi and Borno states topped Nigeria’s Covid-19 tally on Sunday, 14th February with a total of 198 new cases as Nigeria recorded 520 new infections.

The figure marked a massive drop in cases when compared with the 1,143 cases reported Saturday. However, Nigeria’s Covid-19 hotspot, Lagos was conspicuously missing on the Sunday’s tally, explaining the reason for the drop.

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on its official website.

Ondo state led with (120) of the 520 newly recorded cases.

The figure has brought the total number of confirmed cases in Ondo State to 2,274, while its discharged cases are 2,080 and 56 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Borno state followed Ondo with 41 newly confirmed cases. In total, 1,179 cases have been confirmed in the state, 932 discharged and 38 deaths recorded.

Ebonyi’s newly recorded 37 cases have brought the state’s total number of confirmed cases to 1,709, 1,409 discharged and 30 deaths.

In addition, 144 community recoveries were recorded in Rivers State.

Till date, a total number of 146,184 cases have been confirmed, 120,838 cases have been discharged and 1,752 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

NCDC further said that it will collaborate with relevant health organisations to produce health advisory books in assessing the risk of the recently confirmed cases of Ebola in Guinea and Congo.

Specifics:
The 520 new cases are reported from 19 states- Ondo (120), Borno (41), Ebonyi (37), Benue (33), Plateau (30), FCT (29), Nasarawa (25), Ogun (25), Edo (24), Osun (24), Katsina (22), Kaduna (21), Niger (20), Kwara (14), Ekiti (13), Yobe (10), Oyo (4), Bayelsa (1), and Jigawa (1)
