Nigeria saw a dramatic drop in the number of new Covid-19 cases on Sunday as Anambra, Lagos and Osun States led the daily tally of confirmed cases according to Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) figures.

Anambra logged in 87 cases, Lagos had 82 while Osun had 17 confirmed cases in the last 24 hours.

The number of confirmed cases dropped significantly to 240 cases nationwide, Sunday.

Recall that 341 cases were previously announced as the lowest figure before Sunday’s 240 cases.

The drop comes as Nigeria marks one year anniversary since the country joined the league of nations struck by the global contagion — Covid-19 pandemic on the 27 February, 2020 when Nigeria registered its index case of the infection.

On Saturday, only four states: Lagos, Anambra, Osun and Ogun reported two-digit figures.

Moreover, eight other states and the FCT recorded single digits, with Rivers recording just one new case of CVID-19.

In addition, Nigeria recorded two additional deaths of Covid-19 in Abia and FCT in the last 24 hours.

However, a total number of 155,657 cases have been confirmed, 133,768 cases have been discharged and 1907 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the NCDC, 170 community recoveries in Lagos State were recorded in Lagos State.

Specifics:
The 240 new cases are reported from 13 states- Anambra (85), Lagos (82), Osun (17), Ogun (10), Kwara (9), FCT (8), Kano (7), Abia (6), Ekiti(5), Borno (4), Edo (2), Bayelsa (2) Kaduna (2) and Rivers(1).

On Sunday, 512 cases were discharged. Among them were 170 community recoveries in Lagos State.
