  • OOPL Human Resources Department Says Sack Is Temporary

By Hamilton Nwosa(Head, The New Diplomat’s Business and data tracking desk)

Following the growing impact of the dreaded coronavirus on business operations, the management of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library(OOPL) has fired several of its staff.

Premising its decision to sack a handful of its staff on financial shocks brought about by the COVID-19 lock-down designed to prevent the spread of the disease, the OOPL management  said it has become necessary to ask its workers to disengage until further notice.

In a sack letter  by OOPL management entitled ““Notification of temporary cessation of appointment”  which was signed by one Olanike Ogunleye of the Human Resource Department, the company said its action is predicated on the shocks arising from the current global pandemic. She wrote:

“As you are aware, the current Covid:19 pandemic has had an adverse effect on all of our business significantly.

“This has resulted in making some difficult business decisions. Due to this situation, we regret to inform you that your employment will be put on hold till further notice.”

Recall that following the daily  increasing figures and statistics of COVID-19, president Muhammadu Buhari had declared a lock-down, which prohibited persons and organizations from moving about and operating, respectively.

The initial lockdown was for a period of two-weeks which was imposed first on Lagos, Ogun and FCT. This was later adopted across other states across the country.
