Nigeria recorded its lowest number of Covid-19 cases, since March, reporting only 125 infections nationwide, Thursday.

The further drop in newly confirmed infections comes as Nigeria is gearing up for the full reopening of its economy including schools, following the latest directives issued on Thursday.

The New Diplomat reports President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the country’s transition to the third phase of the ease of lockdown implemented in March to battle the coronavirus pandemic.

But as the caseload is on a downward trajectory, states are still recording fatalities.

In August, 20 deaths were recorded in Kaduna, North West Nigeria, the NCDC said in a tweet.

Kaduna has now recorded 32 deaths, out of 2,174 cases. The figure placed it 6th on the national death toll chart.
