In a bid to provide adequate protection to frontline health workers battling COVID 19, Sunu Group (Sunu Health and Sunu Assurance) has on Friday donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth N15m to Lagos State government.

According to Kyari Abba Bukar, Chairman Sunu Group while presenting the PPE at the Lagos medical Warehouse in Lekki, the donation was for Frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.

Hear him, “the Frontline workers are the ones handling patients with COVID-19. Our Frontline workers need the PPE to protect themselves and this is just as good as saving lives first” he said.

On his part, Dr. Patrick Korie, Managing Director, Sunu Health said that the PPE was for Lagos State and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. He added that Sunu Group decided to donate the equipment so that Frontline workers could be protected against COVID-19.

“We are looking at Pan African by donating in African countries where we operate. We are here in Nigeria, we are going to make this donation all over Africa” he said.

Also, Mr. Samuel Ogbodu, Managing Director, Sunu Assurances said that what the group has done was to contribute their quota to the elimination of COVID-19 in Nigeria. He posited that the donation was not limited to Nigeria alone but all African countries that Sunu Group operates.

“At this moment the main need now is the issue of protecting the Frontline workers. We need to provide them with health insurance as they are moving around and we also need to insure their vehicles” he said.

Receiving the PPE on behalf of Lagos State, Mr. Olajide Razak, Lagos State medical Warehouse manager said thanked Sunu Group.

Razak said that a drop of water makes an ocean and was of the view that if everyone could come together, COVID-19 would be eliminated.
