The Department of State Services (DSS) has been ordered to release the five activists and a blind Saxophonist that were arrested at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja for wearing #BuhariMustGo T-shirt with immediate effect.
Justice A. I Chikere of the Federal High Court in Abuja gave the order on Monday while delivering her ruling on the matter.
The activists who have been in the custody of the secret police since July 4 include Ben Mannaseh, Emmanuel Larry, Victor Udoka Anene, a blind Saxophonist, Samuel Gabriel Iwatonaiye and Henry Nwodo.
The youths prayed the court to protect their right to freedom from discrimination and personal liberty guaranteed under Articles 1, 2, 6, 8 and 9 of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights (Ratification and Enforcement) Act (CAP. A9), Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The court was urged by the applicant to order the immediate and unconditional release of the youths from the DSS custody.
