Court Grants Igboho’s 12 Aides Bail After 32 Days

Federal High Court, Abuja, on Wednesday has granted bail to the 12 detained aides of popular Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho.

This is coming after the aides had spent 32 days in the detention facility of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The operatives of the DSS had raided the residence of Ighoho in Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

During the raid, the DSS arrested 12 aides of Igboho.

The 12 arrested aides were detained by DSS amid reports that they’ve been denied bail application several times.

Meanwhile, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja in his ruling, ordered that the 12 detained aides of Igboho be granted bail.

The presiding judge made the order while ruling in an exparte application by Mr Pelumi Olajeingbesi, counsel to the applicants.

Olajengbesi had approach the court to demand for the protection of the fundamental rights of the 12 aides.

Justice Egwuatu, in his judgement said that the detainees are entitled to bail by the provisions of the Nigerian law having been held in custody beyond the period stipulated by law.

The judge, who held that there was no charge against the applicants, admitted four of the applicants bail in the sum of N10 million each with two sureties in like sum, while the remaining eight were granted bail in the sum of N5 million with one surety each.
