A Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday refused to grant bail application filed by the embattled police cop, Abba Kyari.

The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite in his judgement held that the evidence placed against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) is sufficient to remand him in custody pending the outcome of a substantial judgement.

This was sequel to a bail application filed by Kyari alongside six others who were arraigned before the court on allegations bordering on drug trafficking.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/57/2022 charged Kyari of unlawful drug dealings. However, the embattled police officer pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

Justice Nwite, in his judgement held that the prosecution has placed sufficient materials before the court to warrant the refusal of bail to both senior police officers.

The presiding judge upheld the argument of the NDLEA, who prayed to court not to grant Kyari bail on the grounds that it was inappropriate to grant bail to the applicant because of the facts and circumstances of the case.
