There was momentary disruption of the ongoing high-level meeting to continue deliberation on the planned coalition spearheaded by former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi among others.

The meeting, organised by the National Political Consultative Group (North) is currently taking place at the Abuja Continental Hotel.

It was gathered that the disruption was sparked by a disagreement over representation for Jigawa State.

Trouble started when former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, announced a delegate to speak for the state.

The selection of the named person apparently did not sit well with Jigawa delegates who stormed the stage, blocking the individual from speaking.

The delegates insisted they would not be represented by the person named.

This led to a face-off between the two parties prompting security personnel, including members of the Nigerian Police, DSS, and private guards to form a protective shield around prominent politicians and proponents of coalition on ground.

However, calm was restored after several minutes of appeals, as Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, along with another delegate, was chosen to speak on behalf of the state.
