Tension and panic have escalated as operatives of the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) have reportedly opened fire on protesters and journalists covering the nationwide protest held at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday.

The situation caused palpable tension as several individuals started running to save themselves from being injured.

It was gathered that the protesters converged in front of the stadium for day three of the 10-day protest to end bad governance in Nigeria.

However, heavily armed men arrived at the venue around 11:45 am and ordered them to leave.

Following their refusal to obey the order, the policemen allegedly opened fire on the protesters, including journalists at the venue.

However, no causality has been recorded as of press time.
