The Ogun state governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oladipupo Adebutu has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Dapo Abiodun to avoid celebrating their victory in the just-concluded governorship poll in the Gateway state.
Adebutu who spoke at a press conference in Abeokuta, said Abiodun should not be too quick to celebrate his victory, saying the election that declared him winner was a sham.
The candidate, while faulting the electioneering process said the election is a reflection of Abiodun’s ‘criminally inclined government’.
He also vowed to challenge the result in court, alleging that votes recorded for Abiodun were inflated in most of polling units across the state.
Adebutu stated that the findings by the PDP shows that the scores were inflated by 1,000 to 4,000 votes in favour of APC in some polling units.
According to him, PDP won in most of the 20 local governments of the state, saying the election was allegedly rigged by the ruling APC in conjunction with INEC.
He said: “This is not a margin of a hundred thousand that we will be chasing and chasing. I dare them to celebrate. We have found 10,000 there already, we have found 4,000 in Ogijo.
“These people didn’t have half of the votes that were published for them. After this auditing, we are still going to do forensic when we get the court order.
“Dapo Abiodun’s government is criminally inclined and that is how he has been running his government. What he did on Saturday was about 30 to 40 bikes with young men with guns roaming the streets, attacking polling units. The Impunity was so much. This people dressed like DSS operatives.
Adebutu added “Their House of Representatives elect was also seen with a ballot box which he was presenting to the INEC officials and insisting that the votes in the box be counted”.
