The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has staged a protest over the killing of worshippers by gunmen at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Owo, headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

St. Francis Catholic Church in Owa-luwa Street, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State was attacked by gunmen on Sunday.

Members of the church were attacked by terrorists said to be of Northern extraction during the celebration of the Pentecost Sunday.

Many members of the congregation were shot dead by the terrorists. One of the videos of the incident shows that many women and children were killed in the attack.

However, some members of CAN on Monday marched to the Palace of Olowo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, to express their displeasure over the attack.

The protesters carried placards with different inscriptions, such as “Stop Persecution of Christians”, “Don’t Play Politics With Our Lives”, “Stop Killing Christians”, and “Address Insecurity in Nigeria Urgently” and many more.

The state CAN Chairman, Anslem Ologunowa, who described the incident as barbaric joined the demonstrators and strongly condemned the attack. While he urged the government to increase security in the state.
