Afro-beat legend and Grammy Award winner, Burner Boy and other celebrities and fans have been reacting to the death of American rapper, Earl Simmons, better known as DMX.

DMX’s family broke the news of his death today in a statement saying he died today, Friday, at White Plains Hospital after being on life support till a few days ago.

Burna Boy, reacting to the news, recalled how DMX helped him to grow as a musician.

He tweeted: “RIP DMX. Thank you for being the soundtrack of my childhood.”

Other celebrities and fans have been sending condolence messages to DMX’s family.

White Plains hospital also put out a condolence statement to DMX’s family and friends which read.

“White Plains Hospital extends its deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Simmons, as well as his friends and legions of fans who expressed their unwavering support during this difficult time. Earl Simmons passed away peacefully with family present after suffering a catastrophic cardiac arrest.”
