Nigerian Grammy winner, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has emerged the first African musician to cross one billion streams on Audiomack.

A congratulatory message was sent to the artiste, via its Twitter account, by Audiomack, a music streaming service that enables producers to freely share a limitless amount of music and podcast content.

The afro-beat singer, who has dominated the global Afrobeats scene, reacted to the announcement with a two-word tweet referencing his body of work: “Big 7!”

The Afrobeats singer made history earlier this month when he became the first African performer to headline a solo show in a stadium in the UK, according to Rolling Stone UK.

The 31-year-old artist sold out the 80,000-seat London Stadium and played songs from his hit album “Love Damini” as well as other hits, the London Stadium’s team praised his accomplishment via Twitter.

After his sold-out performance in the London Stadium, Burna Boy performed at the Pepsi Champions League Kick-off Show on June 10.

In Istanbul, Turkey, he played songs like “Last Last” and “It’s Plenty” on stage alongside Brazilian pop icon Anitta.

With Burna Boy’s growing global fanbase and artistic accomplishments, his influence has spread to larger music markets.

His most recent release, “Sittin’ on Top of the World”, climbed to a new peak on the Netherlands Daily Spotify Top Songs Chart. Additionally, it rose in the UK Daily Spotify Top Songs Chart.

Burna Boy is also set to become the first Nigerian artist to headline a stadium concert in the United States on July 8, 2023, according to Billboard.
