An Abuja based lawyer, Julius Atanawhemera has accused Okoi Obono-Obla, Senior Special Assistant on Prosecution to President Muhammadu Buhari of assault and continuous threat to lives. This was disclosed in a four-page petition he sent to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami originally obtained by The New Diplomat in Abuja.
The legal practitioner claimed that Obla connived with one Inspector Eunice Kennedy of the Central Police Station, Abuja to assault and intimidate him on 7th of April, 2017.
“Obla and Inspector Eunice Kennedy further conspired to hide a Police Bond document through which one of my phone that was forcefully taken from me by Obla, his privies, agent and those under his authority from the case file that was transferred from the Central Police Station to the FCIID upon a signal of the DIG based on the directive of the IGP in response to my petition dated 10th of April 2017.
“Inspector Eunice Kennedy with one Evbu Igbinedion, invade my residence while my petition was being acted upon administratively by the IGP who directed the DIG-FCIID to investigate my petition,” Atanawhemera stated.
He further alleged that all the valuable properties taken from his residence are still with Obla and his agents till date.
Atanawhemera further claimed that Obla kept sending unknown men who introduced themselves as Don Isreal and one Felix (ex-militants) through telephone calls with GSM numbers: 08142267829, 08173816831 threatening to kill him if he does not withdraw his petition against Obla, his privies, agents and those under his authority.
Atanawhemera added that he will seek help of protection from international communities such as Transparency International, United Nations Office on Human Right and others if the Office Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice fail to ensure justice is done on the matter.
Recall, last November, The New Diplomat had exclusively reported the alleged abuse of office by Obono-Obla as contained in a petition by Atanawhemera, forwarded to President Buhari and the National Security Adviser on 10th October, 2017.
