President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Justice Ariwoola Olukayode as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Justice Ariwoola took the judicial oath of office on Wednesday in a brief ceremony at the Council Chambers in Abuja before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by the President.
It would be recalled that Buhari had wrote the Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of Justice Olukayade Ariwoola as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
The letter was read during the plenary session. In the letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, Buhari is seeking the confirmation of Ariwoola as the substantive CJN in accordance with Section 231(1) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.
Recall also that Ariwoola was sworn in as the acting CJN following the sudden resignation of Justice Ibrahim Tanko on health grounds.
