President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences to the family of and friends of veteran journalist and ace sports administrator, Bisi Lawrence who died a few days back.
The late Bisi Lawrence was also a mentor, teacher, writer and administrator who taught many the art and style of journalism thereby enabling many to attain excellent heights in the media profession.
In a statement signed by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the president, Mr Femi Adesina, Buhari said he ” joins the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Guild of Editors and Sports Writers Association in mourning the renowned columnist and sports enthusiast, who served as Vice Chairman of Nigeria Football Association (NFA) and chaired the media committee for Nigeria ’99 FIFA U-20 World Cup, with outstanding results.”

The statement added: “President Buhari believes the frontline journalist, more popularly known as Uncle Biz Law, used his talent in writing, organising and mentoring to serve the country meritoriously, and his legacy of setting new standards with every responsibility will always be remembered. The President prays that the Almighty God will grant his soul eternal rest, and comfort all his loved ones.”
Similarly, the news of the death of the veteran journalist and eminent sports administrator has thrown the media community into a state of grief and mourning as many in the media industry recall with fond memory the great and excellent contributions of late Bisi Lawrence to the growth of the profession in Nigeria.
Until his death, Bisi Lawrence was a foremost columnist with Vanguard newspaper. His regular column known as Uncle Biz Law, was a compelling read for many.
