Former President Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed that his health status has improved seriously since he left office on May 29, 2023.

He maintained that the complexities and demands of being Nigeria’s President had previously impacted seriously on his health, leading to several instances where he had to seek medical treatment abroad.

Speaking during an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting at the Katsina State Government House, Buhari stated that since he stepped down as president he observed that he looks and feels better.

According to him, the improvement is due to a reduction in stress from duties.

He said: “Those outside the corridors of power do not understand the complexities and difficulties facing Nigeria.

“My health has improved since leaving office. People who visited me told me I look better than before.”

It would be recalled that Buhari’s health was a notable concern during his tenure as President of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023.

Buhari made several trips abroad for medical treatment, most notably to the United Kingdom.

His longest medical leave was in 2017 when he spent over 100 days in London, leading to speculations and concerns about his health status.
