President Muhammadu Buhari, Thursday played host to Northern States Governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Though the purpose of the meeting was not disclosed by the presidency, it may not be unconnected with worsening insecurity in the region.

On Wednesday, 21st April, The New Diplomat reported how gunmen went to Greenfield University in Kaduna State to cart away students.

Earlier today in Zamfara State, over 40 people were reportedly killed in the Magami community of Gusau Local Government Area in Zamfara.

The Governors were led by chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, Simon Lalong.

Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, was also in the meeting.

Others Governors present are: Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi); Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna); Mai Mala Buni(Yobe); Abubakar Bello(Niger) and Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa).
