Tributes have continued to pour in for the late Nigerian Artist, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan.

President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the demise of the Nigerian Singer and songwriter, describing him as an artist who lived exemplary lifestyle.

The New Diplomat had recently reported that Sound Sultan, on Sunday passed away at the age of 44.

The news of the demise of the singer was announced by his brother, Dr. Kayode Fasasi, triggering an immediate outpouring of tributes from Nigerians.

According to Kayode, Sound Sultan died after battling with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma.

Reacting to the demise, the president, in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Femi Adesina on Monday, described the death of the singer as a loss to the whole country.

The President also wished the deceased’s family as well as friends the fortitude to bear the loss.

The statement reads, “President Muhammadu Buhari extends heartfelt condolences to the Fasasi family on the death of renowned singer and songwriter, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, aged 44.

“The President notes that Sound Sultan’s demise is not only a loss to the Nigerian music industry, but to the country as a whole.

“As a celebrated rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, he lived an exemplary life, achieved several milestones in his career, and contributed greatly to the development of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry through his artistic genius, creativity, and talent, which has inspired many young Nigerians in the industry.

“The deceased, President Buhari affirms, was kind, generous, and deeply passionate about issues in the country, which reflected in his music and art, and as an avid basketball fan, he made telling contributions to the development of local basketball in the country.

“The President prays for the eternal repose of the soul of the departed and divine peace and comfort for the family, friends, and associates.”

Also, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has penned his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late singer as well as Oyo State.

Makinde said the death of Sound Sultan who hails from Iseyin, in Oyo State is a huge loss to the state and the entertainment world.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Assistant (Print Media) to the governor, Moses Alao.

The statement reads, “The news of the death of popular singer and producer, Lanre Fasasi popularly known as Sound Sultan, unsettled me greatly.

“From afar, Sound Sultan cuts the figure of a well-bred young man, who achieved stardom by dint of hard work and managed to remain relevant without falling to the entrapments of fame and youthful exuberance.

“In him, Oyo State lost a truly great but humble artiste and ambassador. We lost an individual who tried his best to positively impact his society through entertainment.”
