President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to work with Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State to defeat insecurity in the state.

The President also assured that his administration will deal with infrastructural deficits of Imo state.

He made this known while commissioning the Egbeada-Onitsha bypass road in Owerri. Earlier, that the New Diplomat had reported that Buhari landed at the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, the state capital, to where to commission some projects.

Speaking during the visit, the president expressed his delight at the development of the state. He commended Uzodinma for making meaningful progress in the state.

The President also noted that without security in the state, the infrastructural development would be affected, adding that he will work with the governor to ensure that the security of lives and properties in the state.

In his words, “I have gone round and I am impressed with what I saw. A society without security and infrastructure will not progress and lucky this is where my vision has tallied with the governor of Imo state. I will use my power as enshrined by the constitution to make the governor achieve more.”

Imo state has been witnessing a surging cases of attacks on public and private facilities in recent times.

The New Diplomat had reported that some unidentified hoodlums attacked the Imo State Police Headquarters and the Correctional facility on April 5. The hoodlums also released about 1,884 inmates in the facility.

It would be also be recalled also that Uzodimma‘s house located at his country home in Omuma, Oru East Local Government Area(LGA) of Imo state, was attacked and set ablaze by some hoodlums.
