The Gift of Hindsight: What I Would Tell My Younger Self, By Johnson Babalola

By Johnson Babalola @jbdlaw Hindsight, they say, is life’s most generous teacher—but it sends its lessons late. It is only after the storms that the patterns become clear; only after the wrong turns that the map begins to make sense. As I celebrate another birthday today and have grown older, I often find myself reflecting…

The immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved a forthcoming publication titled “Software” written by Femi Adesina, former aide to the President on Media and Publicity.

Buhari in a letter he personally signed on Friday, sighted by TheNewDiplomat, said Adesina was qualified to write about his administration of eight years because he was there from the beginning of his tenure to the end.

In his words, “If anyone qualifies to write about our service to our country for eight years (2015- 2023), Femi Adesina does. Because he was there from the beginning to the
end.

“I am glad that he has put together this book on working with me, as we rendered service to our country. It is one way to combat revisionism and set records straight. A country must have records, to protect its history.

“I am also quite glad that Adesina has asked me to write the Foreword to this book. It’s the least I could do for a loyal aide, who gave his all to serve me, and serve the country. I salute his dedication, patriotism and steadfastness. He says he is writing about the “software, and not the hardware” of the Buhari administration.

“Very interesting. Yes, he sat with me many times, both in the office, and at home, and so he heard and observed many things not generally known. He has chronicled them in this book. I am impressed by his memory and sense of duty.

“Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity’ is a book I’m delighted to read. And I believe all those who read it will even find much more pleasure, as they go through this very stimulating, and detailed memoir.

“Thank you Adesina for this service not just to Buhari, but to our country at large.”
