Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has presented N458,271,299,477.66 as 2024 budget tagged “Budget of Rural Transformation for Inclusive Development” to the Kaduna State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
According to the governor, N318,836,576,588.28 (69.57% of the budget) is for Capital Expenditure and N139,434,722,889.38 (30.43% of the budget) is for Recurrent Expenditure.
He said: “Today, I had the honour and privilege of formally laying the 2024 Budget Proposal of Kaduna State for the consideration and approval of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
“The proposed 2024 “Budget of Rural Transformation for Inclusive Development” has a total budget size of N458,271,299,477.66, of which N318,836,576,588.28 (69.57% of the budget) is for Capital Expenditure and N139,434,722,889.38 (30.43% of the budget) is for Recurrent Expenditure.
“The lion’s share of the sectoral allocations went to Education with N115,421,129,011.16 (25.19%), followed by Health with N71,647,821,975.33 (15.63%). Public Works and Infrastructure was allocated the sum of N57,131,513,937.34. The Agricultural Sector received a major boost with the allocation of N22,549,870,035.10. Social Development got the sum of N20,827,209,339.45.
“The 2024 Budget is the first budget of our administration. It is through this budget that we shall move decisively to fulfil the promises we made to the good people of Kaduna State. We are confident that the State House of Assembly will give the budget expeditious consideration.
“In his response after I laid the budget before the House, the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Henry Danjuma, commended our administration for rebuilding trust in the state and focusing on 7 key areas which are critical to revitalizing the economy of the state and improving the living conditions of the people.
“He stated that my commitment to the transformation of Kaduna State and reversing of the negative development indices is reflected in the meticulous and detailed way the budget was prepared and presented. The Honourable Speaker is confident that the 2024 budget will be a catalyst for positive change in Kaduna State.”
