The Kogi State Government has submitted a proposed budget of N258,278,501,339.00 for the 2024 fiscal year to the State lawmakers for approval.

The budget, tagged: “Budget of Consolidation and Continuity For Inclusive Growth” will be the last fiscal estimate that Governor Yahaya Bello will be presenting in the chamber of the Kogi State House of Assembly, as his tenure in office will end on January 27th, 2024.

Governor Bello explained that the 2024 budget was slightly higher by N60,678,826,427.00 when compared to the 2023 revised budget, representing a 30.71% increase.

The Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Umar Yusuf, noted that the budget proposal is expected to be a reflection of the resolve of the people of the state to address their critical needs and meet the daunting challenges of governance.

Apart from education, healthcare and infrastructure developments, Governor Bello listed other critical areas the 2024 Kogi State budget will focus to include; environment and sustainable development, industry and commerce, information and communication technology and innovation, youth empowerment and Sports development, entertainment, culture and tourism development, housing, enhanced internally generated revenue, and Water and Sanitation, among others.
