Rivers State’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), is currently before the Senate for hearing on the state’s ₦1.48 trillion budget proposal for 2025.

The New Diplomat reports that Ibas was accompanied to the National Assembly complex by other key officials, including members of the economic team.

The delegation are defending the budget before Senate Ad-Hoc Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State.

This comes after the Senate had weeks ago reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the people of Rivers State were not shortchanged following the declaration of emergency rule by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025.

Recall also that key allocations include ₦324.5 billion for infrastructure and transportation, ₦55 billion to relocate and expand the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, and ₦50 billion for zonal hospital upgrades.
