  • Says Wike Has Done Well As Minister

By Peter Akoteyon

Buba Galadima, a former member of the All Progressives Congress, APC and now chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, has said that some Ministers in the cabinet of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu cabinet are more interested in stocking their pockets with the public wealth than service delivery.

Galadima, an elder statesman made this submission while he was a guest on at a national television -channels television programme, Politics Today, weekend , in Abuja.

He said: “The Tinubu administration should have shown some of his ministers the door long before now. Some of them are just there in the Presidency with budgets allocated to their offices and doing nothing. They are more interested in sticking their pockets with the public wealth rather than service delivery. There are a few exceptions with Wike being a working Minister, and that is not because he is Wike, but because he was given the enabling environment to work.”

It would be recalled that the Tinubu administration has been Inundated with cases of poor performances by many serving minister. Indeed, while many ministers have been accused of incompetence, some have been assailed by plethora of doubts about their eligibility or qualifications for appointment as ministers of the federal Republic of Nigeria. This development has prompted calls for a massive cabinet shake up. Confirming an imminent cabinet reshuffle recently, Special Advisor to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed that Tinubu has resolved to sack ministers who have performed very poorly in the discharge of their duties.

However, Galadima who weighed in on the subject matter at the weekend said the time for a cabinet overhaul is long over due.

He added: “On my way here to this studio I lost my way, because Wike is working. Wether you like him or hate him we must acknowledge the fact that he is working, he has put a face to this Abuja. My own friend and brother was here for 8 years as FCT Minister but was only praying in his office. I have not said he is a failure but tell me what he did. We must learn to call a spade a spade.”

He added: “I will not blame any Minister for not performing, I will only blame the person who appointed them. The President must show hisunderperforming Ministers the way out. It is his prerogative and he should do that without any delays.”
