NCP: Buhari Has Failed… N’Assembly Should ‘Ve Impeached Him Over Ongoing Blood-letting

By ‘Dotun Akintomide

Dr. Yinusa Tanko has officially declared his aspiration to contest in next year’s presidential election under the mandate of the National Conscience Party (NCP), a party formed by the late legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.

Tanko who was the running mate to Dele Momodu, NCP’s torchbearer in the 2011 presidential poll, said his party was formed on strong democratic ideology, principles and programmes that were targeted at phasing out the multifaceted challenges the nation has been grappling with for decades.

Making the public declaration Monday in Lagos, he listed part of his party’s blueprint dupped the “ten-care program” to include power, agriculture, education, healthcare, transportation, telecommunication as well as addressing the oil despoilation in the Niger Delta among other naughty issues.

“Nigeria’s woes began in 1993 when a popularly won election by SDP was annulled (by the maximum ruler, General Ibrahim Babangida), leading to the accompanying challenges of governance.

“I’m ready to listen to the people to ensure we put in place the people’s constitution that will address the aspiration of all Nigerians.” He said.

The Kano-born politician said the Nigerian youths having been used to champion sundry political violence against the state due to total collapse in government’s welfare system, “should organize themselves to kick out bad governance come 2019” as a way of proving President Muhammadu Buhari wrong over a controversial statement he made in London last week, claiming that Nigerian youths are lazy and are always interested in freebies.

Human rights activist and NCP Chairman, Barrister Femi Aborishade, while addressing party faithfuls lamented the state of governance and security under the incumbent administration, saying “in the words of Soyinka there’s no governance again in the country.”

“We have witnessed unprecedented level of blood shed, yet nobody has been prosecuted. If the National Assembly is honourable President Muhammadu Buhari should have been impeached.”

Aborishade noted that the NCP’s slogan –Abolition of poverty– was apt assuring that his party is interested in liberating the poor masses of Nigeria from the monster called poverty.

“As far as the National Conscience Party is concerned we see to plight of the poor people of Nigeria. We believe that there are only two ethnic groups in Nigeria namely the ethnic group of the rich and the ethnic group of the poor. Hence, it’s only the NCP that has good programmrs to bridge this gap and we have no competitors.”

He observed that while it’s important for the NCP to maintain its sanctity among electorates, the party should forge strong alliance with other credible solution driven political parties to wrestle power from the incumbent government.

Extolling the virtues of the late human right lawyer, Aborishade said as an enforcer, Fawehinmi always throw his heart into everything he does without excluding immediate members of his family from many of his actions.

“He’s not like other politicians who inflict pain on Nigerians, but send their children to safety abroad.

“The President has continuously sought medical treatment abroad without accounting for the cost, despite campaign promise to fix the health sector, but can call Nigerians youths lazy over free healthcare.”

Aborishade who called on Nigerians to send packing, the current administration also cautioned that PDP is not an alternative, noting that the party has also contributed to the current failure of governance the nation is witnessing.

Calling on Nigerians to rally round the party’s presidential aspirant, Gani Fawehinmi’s eldest son, Muhammed said “we want a man of fresh ideas like Yinusa Tanko and not old men.”

Former governor of Kaduna state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa was among top elites who graced the event.
