US Health and Human Services secretary Tom Price has resigned after coming under fire for using chartered flights at hundreds of thousands of dollars expense to US taxpayers.

The White House announced Mr Price would be leaving his post, saying Mr Price had tendered his resignation and the president had accepted it.

Donald Trump had hinted at Mr Price’s firing. Asked by reporters about whether he would be asking his health and human services secretary to step down, Mr Trump replied: “We’ll see.”
