The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Sa’ad Abubakar, has announced the commencement of the 2024 Ramadan in Nigeria, starting from Monday, March 11.

The Sultan, who is also the President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs(SCIA), made the announcement on Sunday following the sighting of the crescent by the National Moon Sighting Committee.

Earlier, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia officially announced the start of the Islamic fasting period from Monday after sighting the lunar month.

The Kingdom made the announcement via its X handle on Sunday.

The tweets reads:“Crescent of Ramadan 1445/2024 has been sighted in Saudi Arabia!

“Subsequently, Ramadan 1445/2024 begins tomorrow, 11 March 2024. Taraweeh Prayers will begin in the Two Holy Mosques after Isha Prayers.”
