The Lagos State Government on Tuesday put on hold, the planned reopening of worship centers across the state.

This latest development comes as mosques and churches in the state are gearing up to open on Friday, June 19 and Sunday, June 21 respectively.

Ahead of the initially set date, Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has put a jolt to the planned re-opening following the directive which he communicated to Lagosians at a press briefing on Tuesday.

According to the Governor, the development is as a result of the rising cases of Covid-19 in the state.

Africa’s most populous city– Lagos has logged in a total of 7,319 cases since the Coronavirus pandemic struck Nigeria on February 27. On Monday, it recorded another uptick in its figures as it added 216 cases.
