Barely a week after spitting fire, warning the stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who have started heating up the political temperature in Delta state ahead of the 2023 guber election, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has dissolved his cabinet, claiming he wants to inject new blood into the governance of the state.
The dissolution of the state’s executive council which was a part of the decision of the weekly executive council meeting that took place in the government house Tuesday’s afternoon, affected the chief of staff, Mr. David Edevbie, Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Chiedu, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Peter Mrakpor SAN, and 28 other Commissioners.
Briefing the press shortly after the executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu who was also reported to be affected by the dissolution, disclosed that the action was meant to create opportunity for new blood to be injected into the governance of the State and to assist the governor to realize his goal for the remaining part of his tenure.
It would be recalled that Okowa, barely a week ago, while addressing a meeting of leaders and stakeholders of PDP in Delta North, warned against those who have started political activities in earnest to declare their ambition.
Meanwhile, three top PDP members in Oshimili North have resigned their membership of the party on Tuesday afternoon, citing unfair treatment and undeserving suspension for an alleged anti-party.
Those that resigned include Ogbuefi Anthony Ejiofor, Assistant State Organizing Secretary of the party, Chief Dennis Oguguamakwa Ndukwe (PDP Oshimili North ward 10) and Chief Dr. Ben Uwezu (ward 1).
As at the time of this report it is unclear whether the three powerful PDP leaders from Oshimili North are heading to the APC or any other party, following their resignation.
