86 names of persons wanted in connection with the terrorist’s organisation–Boko Haram were made public, Wednesday, by the Nigerian Army.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai reportedly unveiled the names at the induction of Civilian JTF, Hunters, and Vigilantes into the operations of the Nigerian Army Super Camp.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum was also at the Nigerian Army Super Camp, Chabbal in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno state where the operation was launched.

Accordong to Buratai, the release of the wanted persons’ names was part of activities to further take the fight to the Boko Haram insurgents who have killed thousands and displaced millions of Nigerians in the beleaguered North-East region.

Leader of the Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, who has been declared dead in the past is among the top military targets on the list.

Other are Abu Musa Al Barnawi, Modu Sulum, Malkam Umar, Mallam Bello Husba, Abu Musab Barnawi, Abu Imma, Ibrahim Abu Maryam, Baka Kwasari, Mallam Yan Kolo, Bana Gonna, Mohammed Abu Maryam, and Abu Dardda.

Recall bounties have been placed on Shekau’s head in the past, with speculations that he had died, only for him to allegedly resurface again in videos to debunk the death rumours.

Buratai while speaking at the event said “the induction of Civilian JTF into the operation will greatly help in containing the activities of Boko Haram because of their knowledge of the terrain and identifying Boko Haram members”.

Borno Governor, Zulum called on Boko Haram insurgents hiding in Sambisa forest and around Lake Chad to surrender and lay down their arms.

“For those that are still in the bush, terrorising innocent lives and destroying properties, I call upon all of them to surrender.

“You are killing your brothers and sisters, destroying your own infrastructures that were built using money generated through tax from your forefathers. Today, we have all seen the level of devastation, nobody is been left, we are all affected in one way or another,” Zulum said.
