At Friday’s plenary, all 24 members of Nasarawa State House of Assembly unanimously
elected Danladi Jatau, representing Kokona West Constituency, to become the Speaker of the House.

Also, Mohammed Oyanki, the member representing Doma North Constituency, was given the position of Deputy Speaker.

This trails Tuesday’s ruling by the Appeal Court in Abuja where it ordered the former Speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi to vacate the seat.

The court declared Sa’ad Abdullahi Ibrahim, candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, as the winner of the election for the Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency on Tuesday, March 18, 2023.

According to Punch, Jatua, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), teamed up with Oyanki, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to become the leader of the assembly in order to uphold the prevailing tranquility in the House.
