In a shocking development, Abdulazeez Garba-Gafasa, Speaker of the Kano State House, and the majority Leader of the assembly, Kabiru Dashi have resigned their positions.

In a ‘Notification of Resignation’ letter addressed to the Clerk and Permanent Secretary of the Assembly, the Speaker announced his resignation.

Garba-Garfasa in his resignation letter said his decision was based on personal reasons, adding that he appreciated the support of all the members.

Press Secretary to the speaker, Nura Ajingi confirmed the resignation to newsmen, Tuesday.

However, the majority leader, Dashi did not state the reason for his resignation in the one paragraph letter he addressed to the Clerk., Abdullahi Alfa.

Following their resignation, the Kano Assembly will proceed to elect a new Speaker and Majority leader during Tuesday’s plenary.
