Wild jubilation followed the judgment of the Supreme Court affirming the election of Ademola Adeleke as the governor of Osun State.

Supporters of Osun State Governor Senator Ademola Adeleke and his immediate predecessor, Adegboyega Oyetola who was challenging his election, have besieged the premises of the Court in anticipation of the judgment scheduled for 2pm.

As soon as the verdict was announced spontaneous shouts of joy were heard from the crowd of people that were there to support Adeleke.

Delivering judgment on Tuesday, a five-member panel of the apex court held that the Court of Appeal correctly reinstated Adeleke as governor in its March 25 verdict.

The Appeal Court had in that judgement, set aside an earlier judgment by the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which held in favour of Oyetola and sacked Adeleke.

Today’s Supreme Court judgment ends the roller coaster of counter rulings that have attended the election of Adeleke as governor of Osun State.
