*Anxiety As Collection of Nomination Forms Commences Next Month

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)has released a time table and schedule of activities for the governorship elections in Edo State. The elections are scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2020.

According to the commission, the 15th of June has been scheduled as the day for notice of election while political parties can commence the collection of forms from 16th June from INEC headquarters.

Between June 16 to July 20 political parties are expected to carry out their Party Primaries including resolution of disputes arising from the primaries while July 10 is the last day for forms submission.

Political parties are expected to publish the personal details of candidates by July 17 while July 28 is designated as the last day for withdrawal by candidate(s)/replacement of withdrawn candidate(s) by political parties.

Political parties have until August 3 to submit their forms while the final list of nominated candidates will come up on August 20.

June 21, 2020, has been fixed for the commencement of campaigns by political parties in the state and it is expected to end by September 17, 2020.

Recall that the political field in Edo state has been engulfed by political drama in recent times especially within the camp of the ruling APC as warring  political  combatants hustle to fly the party’s ticket in the scheduled September 19 governorship election.
