The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has lifted ban on Political campaigns.

Disclosing this in a statement, the National Commissioner with the INEC and Chairman, Committee on Information and Voter Education, Mr Festus Okoye said that the commission has lifted the ban till Thursday 21st February, 2019.

According to INEC’s Okoye, media organisations were also free to receive adverts, news stories, broadcast materials and the rest till midnight of Thursday.

Okoye said the decision to lift the ban on campaign was arrived at after intensive consultations with political parties.

He also said the commission had worked out plans to ensure that electoral materials arrived the polling units in good time for early commencement of voting.

The APC and the PDP had said they would shun INEC’s directives not to campaign, while many political analysts had faulted the commission.
