- Anger Across Delta PDP As Minority Ika Governor Okowa moves to Humiliate core Anioma, Urhobo, Ndokwa, Itsekiri, Isoko, Aniocha, Others…
In a case of no victor, no vanquished, the race on who wins the ticket to fly the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Ethiope Federal Constituency of Delta State in the House of Representatives has ended in a stalemate.
The hotly contested primaries between incumbent Hon. Ben Igbakpa and Hon. Mrs Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the daughter of former governor of the state, ChiefJames Ibori on Sunday ended with both candidates polling 34-34 votes each, respectively
Recall that Igbakpa, who is presently aspiring to return to the House in 2023 has spoken out loud and clear that he has never at any time contemplated stepping down for the member representing the Ethiope West Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Ibori- Suenu nor anybody else for that matter.
Hon. Erhiatake Ibori- Suenu is in her second tenure as a member representing Ethiope West State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Beyond this, this latest political development is already triggering massive anger across Delta state, especially among PDP leaders in Urhobo, Aniocha, Itsekiri, Core Anioma people of Asaba, Ishimili, Ndokwa, and Isoko that an Ika minority Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is bent on humiliating other ethnic groups (except Ika) in the PDP by discreetly sponsoring aspirants to checkmate Ibori’s daughter and many allies of key players in PDP.
This is coming ahead 2023 PDP primaries where Okowa is strongly behind the speaker of the House of Assembly while Ibori is backing David Edevbie, a former finance commissioner in his government who went on to serve as Okowa’s Chief of Staff.
Checks show that some Political Leaders in the PDP including Ibori allies are Weighing an APC Option as the viable choice to save Delta State from Okowa’s desperate bid to humiliate political leaders and install himself as the defecto political leader.
