Oyo Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan has announced his decision to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He made this known while addressing journalists at his private office, in Ojoo, Ibadan.

He added though he has dumped the PDP he will still remain the Deputy Governor of the state.

The defection comes amid reports of an acrimonious relationship between Olaniyan and Governor Seyi Makinde.

Shortly after Makinde clinched the PDP’s governorship ticket, reports emerged that he might have dropped his Deputy, Olaniyan, as running mate in the 2023 general elections.

It was reported that Olaniyan has been sidelined by the governor and has not been relevant in the scheme of things in the state recently.
