Political dignitaries and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) faithful in North Central states planning to welcome President Bola Tinubu to Benue state may have to look for alternative means of transportation apart from road.
This is as the Makurdi–Lafia–Abuja road became impassable due to overnight rainfall which resulted in heavy flooding
The development came hours before Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue state.
The New Diplomat gathered that the intense floodwater has overtaken the highway, leaving motorists and passengers stranded.
The affected route, a major corridor into Makurdi, has forced commuters to either postpone their journeys or seek shelter in safer areas.
Residents have started lamenting the development considering its timing which coincides with heightened insecurity in the state.
There are also indications that it may disrupt logistical movements in preparation for the President’s one-day visit to commiserate with the people of Benue over the recent massacre in Yelewata.
