The disqualification of Edo governor, Godwin Obaseki from participating in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary has been upheld by an Appeal Committee set up by the party.

Governor Obaseki was disqualified alongside Engr. Chris Ogiemwonyi and Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen by the Professor Jonathan Ayuba-led Committee.

Prof Ayuba while presenting the report of the committee to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party on Friday, said were some discrepancies in the names and certificates of the governor.

Aftermath of Obaseki’s disqualification from the primary race, an appeal committee, that sat on Saturday evening has upheld the decision of the screening committee.

The appeal committee corroborated the report of the screening committee by also citing discrepancies in the dates on Obaseki’s University of Ibadan certificate.

Presenting the appeal committee’s report, Fari said, “It is inconceivable that the same University will award two certificates with separate dates for the same graduate.

“We also find it difficult to vouch for the authenticity of his National Youth Service Corps certificate, there is no indication as to where he served.

“We find that he should be disqualified.”

APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole commended the chairman and members of the appeal committee for doing a “meticulous” job.

He said: “It appears you were extremely meticulous in your findings, you have attention to details, and not just because of the findings.”
