In the face of escalating tension between Africa’s richest person and Chairman of Dangote Refinery and the top management of the Nigerian National Company Ltd, NNPCL, President Tinubu has reportedly stepped in to broker a truce.

Tinubu’s Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri held a peace meeting with key stakeholders to address and resolve the ongoing issues surrounding the Dangote Refinery on Monday in Abuja.

Present at the meeting include Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman and CEO of DangoteGroup,
Mr. Farouk Ahmed, Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Body,
Mr. Gbenga Komolafe, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, and
Mr. Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited.

The meeting reportedly focused on how to find a sustainable and lasting solution to the current impasse affecting the Dangote Refinery, with all parties demonstrating a commitment to be collaborative and proactive in problem-solving.

The Junior Minister(Oil), Lokpobiri reportedly emphasized the importance of cooperation and teamwork among key stakeholders to ensure the success and optimal performance of the Oil and Gas sector, which is pivotal for Nigeria’s economic growth and energy security.

A press statement by Nneamaka Okafor, Special Adviser Media and Communication to Minster of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil) confirmed the development.
Recall that both Dangote refinery and the NNPCL have been having a serious face-off in recent days.
