President Muhammadu Buhari has virtually commissioned the 17-storey Nigerian Content Tower of the Nigerian Content Development Development and Monitoring Board (NCDB) in Elebele, Yenagoa, Thursday.
The edifice touted to be the tallest building in the entire South-South and Southeast parts of the country was designed and completed by local contractors and manpowers.

Commissioning the tower, President Buhari said the project was a demonstration of his administration’s keen interest in deepening manpower development and contribution to the Oil/Gas and other allied industries in the country.
The tower was constructed with its own 10 Megawatt gas-fired power plant and a 1000 seater conference hall, also in the Swali area of Bayelsa State capital.
President Buhari who was represented by the Minister of state for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, also commissioned the NCDMB Independent Power Plant constructed in partnership with the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC).
“We plan to develop local content up to 70% and this tower signals that. Nigerians can do it if the opportunities is given to them and we’re proud of this project.”

“Buhari has brought the ship of local content to the Niger Delta with this project at its heart here in Bayelsa. The youths of the Niger Delta should jump on the ship now,” Sylva said while speaking at the commissioning.
The power plant will provide uninterrupted electricity to the NCDMB structures, the Nigerian Oil and Gas Park being developed by the Board at Emeyal 1 Bayelsa State and select structures in the state.
