The epileptic national grid collapsed for the umpteenth time on Monday, leaving millions of Nigerian households and businesses in darkness.

In a statement, Ikeja Electric PLC confirmed the system collapse, noting that it was due to the failure of the national grid operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), said to be the weakest link in the Nigeria’s power sector.

The announcement made on their Facebook handle noted that it occurred at about 13:06hrs.

“The current power outage is due to a nationwide system collapse that occurred at about 13:06hrs.

“Power supply will be restored gradually to various parts of the network as soon as the Grid is stabilized.

“Kindly bear with us,” the statement reads.

Ikeja Electric has over 1,000,000 customers who the company is committed to serve.
