Adegboruwa Seeks #5b Compensation
Vestiges of slain female Lawyer, Bolalane Raheem resurrects like phoenix from the harsh heap as Lagos state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has pledged to support the police in it’s prosecution of the identified trigger police officer, ASP Drambri Vandi who allegedly killed the expectant mother on Christmas day even the Inspector General of Police (IGP),’Usman Alkil Baba assured that there would be no “hanky panky” in handling the matter.
Governor Sanwo-Olu who made this declaration during a visit to the police chief at his Abuja office yesterday, said his government would be prepared to provide logistics and other essential equipment that would expedite the prosecution of the officers involved in the matter.
Usman Alkili Baba who thanked the governor for the visit, assured Nigerians that the case would be treated with all the seriousness it deserves, adding that the police would not attempt a cover up in it’s investigation and subsequent prosecution of the culprit.
The IGP disclosed that investigations already marked ASP Drambri Vandi as the suspected killer of the female lawyer, adding that alleged killer could not account for the guns and bullets in his custody.
Similarly, human rights lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has promised to seek #5billion (five billion Naira) monetary compensation for the the deceased family.
The Lagos based Activist said that arrangements have been perfected to partner with the Lagos state ministry of Justice in prosecuting the police officer.
Adegboruwa in a statement disclosed his preparedness to work with other human rights organizations in bringing the culprit to book.
The Activist stated that the Lagos NBA chairman, Ikechukwu Uwana contacted him to seek monetary compensation for the family.
Adegboruwa however cautioned the police authorities to guard and guide officers on ammunition handling in order to checkmate incessant cases of extra judicial killings.
It would be recalled that Mrs Bolalane Raheem, a female Lagos based lawyer was killed by a trigger happy police officer on Christmas day on her way back home with her family members at Lekki, Lagos.
