Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Geidam, hometown, of Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali.

 As at the time of filing this report, the attackers were reportedly operating at the heart of the town engaged in a gun battle with troops.

Yobe State Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the attack.

He said an Air Force jet had been deployed to Geidam to support the troops and promised to give details of the attack, which according to him, were still sketchy.

The last time the insurgents attacked Geidam was in February when they kidnapped three Customs officers.
