The shares of an aerospace giant, Boeing, have nosedived by 5% in pre-market trading following the crash of a Boeing 787 operated by Air India in Ahmedabad, India, on June 12, 2025.

According to reports, the tragic incident, which has claimed the lives of 204 people, has thrust Boeing into the spotlight due to concerns over the safety of its flagship aircraft.

This comes after the first fatal crash in the history of the 787 Dreamliner, a wide-body jet celebrated for its fuel efficiency and advanced technology since its debut in 2011.

The New Diplomats that the Air India flight, en route to London’s Gatwick Airport, crashed into the densely populated Meghani Nagar area just minutes after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, India.

Photo footage and videos captured the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner plummeting, erupting into a fireball upon impact, leaving a trail of black smoke and devastation.

According to official reports, the plane was carrying 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian.
