Less than 24 hours Governor Samuel Loraer Ortom alerted Nigerians that Benue State has become has become a killing field for herdsmen, the Governor Elect, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has urged security operatives to scout for the killers of no fewer than 46 persons unceremoniously slaughtered by suspected herdsmen in Umogidi community of Entekpe Adoka in Otukpo council area of the state.

The New Diplomat had earlier reported Ortom’s that 18 local government areas in the state are underseiged by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

But the State Governor Elect on Friday in Abuja while commiserating with the families of those killed by yet to be identified gunmen, urged members of the community and the state at large to remain calm and law abiding.

He disclosed that upon assumption of office, his administration would collaborate with communities and security agencies in a bid to end the unwanton killings of the people in Benue State.

“I’m saddened over the killings and I call on the government at all levels to be more proactive in addressing the security challenges in the state,” he said.

While praying for the reposed souls of those killed by the ravaging suspected killer herdsmen, the Governor Elect promised to end the ugly development.
